As responsible seafood suppliers, we are committed to ensuring that the fish stocks in our seas are still there for future generations. We will never supply anything that is on the endangered list or has a rating of 5 on the Marine Conservation Society “Good Fish Guide”. You can view this at https://www.mcsuk.org/goodfishguide/search
The MCS website states that “Atlantic halibut is a highly vulnerable species, and has been heavily overfished throughout its range. Its stock status is unknown as there is not enough information about the species. Atlantic halibut was assessed as Endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). Avoid eating wild caught Atlantic halibut unless certified by MSC.”
If you still wish to serve Halibut on your menu, we can supply excellent quality farmed Halibut from The Isle of Gigha in Scotland and Glitne Halibut from the Sognefjord waters in Norway.
If you are offered Wild Atlantic Halibut, think twice and consider the future of our seas – it's the ethical choice.
